Must-Have Meal Planning & Nutrition Apps (Infographic)

When we make the decision to improve our eating habits, it usually starts off great but as time goes on our efforts start to flag. After a long day, the thought of slaving away in the kitchen can be too horrifying to bear and so it’s just so much easier to reach for the takeout menu.

It needn’t be this way however and this is where technology comes in. Over the past decade literally thousands of nutrition, meal planning and fitness apps have been developed to make it easier for today’s dieters to stay on track. In our latest infographic, the Lakeshore team list our must-have apps for anyone striving for a healthier lifestyle.

An effective means of eating better, cutting calories and losing weight; meal planning is one of the best ways of improving your lifestyle. Meal planning can be tricky to master but these apps will simplify the process of creating, shopping for and preparing your meals. One great app in this vein is Eat This Much which recommends meals based on whatever diet you’re following. For example, if you’re trying to cut out gluten, this app will give you a grocery list for gluten-free meals.

Nutrition apps can play a very useful role in helping you to reach and sustain your long-term health goals. One of our favourites is iEatWell which records what you eat and gives you a score based on how healthy your diet was throughout the day.

Sometimes you might wonder why you’re not losing weight even when you’ve really cut down the amount of food you’re eating. It can often be that even though you’re eating less, you still lack exercise in your routine. Luckily, there are also many apps designed to help you stay on top of your fitness regime.  The FitBit app is a handy addition to your meal planning and nutrition apps, it monitors your daily activities including your daily steps resting heart rate, sleep patterns and weight loss.

Always keep in mind that the true measure of an app’s worth is whether or not it helps you to make healthy changes. If an app doesn’t motivate you to improve your diet, it’s not much more than a time-waster.
